The Skilled Worker Visa, which replaced the Tier 2 (General) visa, has undergone significant changes effective July 2025. These updates affect salary thresholds, eligible occupations, and application requirements.

Key Changes from July 2025

Increased Salary Thresholds

The general salary threshold has been raised:

  • New threshold: Higher of £38,700 or going rate for the occupation
  • Previous threshold: £26,200
  • Significant increase for most applicants

Tradeable Points System

Some applicants may trade points for lower salary requirements:

  • New entrants to the labor market
  • Those with PhD qualifications
  • Occupations on the shortage occupation list

Updated Occupation Codes

The Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes have been updated:
